Supported Accommodation
Young people with low to medium needs are accommodated in semi-independent placements with visiting key workers and on-call telephone support, including an out of hours’ service post-5pm and at weekends. Each young person has their own private room and they share communal facilities. Careful consideration is given to the dynamics of those housed in shared accommodation to ensure that residents are only placed in amicable situations. Units are welcoming and promote opportunities for discussion, interaction and socialising.
Young people with more complex and higher-level needs are accommodated in our 24-hour unit with staff on duty during the day and night. Each young person has their own private room and shares communal facilities. Our 24-hour staffed units are small enough to feel welcoming but large enough to ensure young people feel part of a community.
Temporary Accommodation for the Vulnerable and Homeless
We provide accommodation for the homeless and vulnerable members of society. Our properties are self contained, furnished and benefit from en-suite shower rooms with toilet and washing facilities. We also work closely , with charities and other organisations to offer further support packages.
Our staff have undergone training in safeguarding young people and adults. (Care Act 2014) and the homelessness (suitability of accommodation) 2004.
Maintenance and Repairs
We have a dedicated maintenance team who carryout all our repairs, ensuring all our properties are kept to high standard. ‘members of our team have also been featured on TV, helping the community with repairs and home improvements’
In Partnership With The Local Authority
We work in partnership with the local authority Throughout and Aftercare allows us to develop the services, in line with all relevant good practice and legislation. Our young people are fully involved in the development of the services and are encouraged to maintain contact when they move on, whether this is to Housing Support Services or their own tenancies.
Young people have the opportunity to develop the skills they will need to live on their own, for example support with employment, education, budgeting and cooking.
Having a safe and secure place to live is something that most of us take for granted. We recognise this can be a daunting time for young people transitioning from residential care, and as such we put a number of supports in place to ease this transition.
An action plan is developed with the young person to help prepare them for the move. Prior to the young people moving into their new home, we arrange a number of visits and overnight stays to support them with the adjustment to living in the house full time.
